Community Outreach
The Black Hawk County Sheriff's Community Services functions as an outreach, interaction and education division with our community. Community Services Coordinator Deputy Altenbaumer conducts educational programs with local schools, as well as several outreach programs with our community including fundraising and safety programs.
DON'T – Drugs Offer No Tomorrow
DON'T is a comprehensive and responsive curriculum designed to expose students to the basic concepts of drug and alcohol use/abuse and violence. It's designed to build on community and school needs. It's intended to support a much broader and more inclusive school-wide focus on the problems and pressures associated with numerous kinds of negative behaviors. It's not a single source of information and programming. As with any drug and alcohol program, DON'T is intended to lay a foundation that can and must be built upon by teachers, counselors, school administration, parents, friends, family and community.
For more information about DON'T or to bring DON'T to your school, contact our community services coordinator, Deputy Altenbaumer at 319-291-2587 ext. 5132 or kaltenbaumer@bhcso.org.
