2021 Annual Report Press Release
The 2021 Sheriff’s Office Annual Report is now complete. “As challenging and difficult as the year 2021 was, I am pleased with the data and statistics we are seeing in this year’s annual report. Most of the numbers demonstrate that self-initiated activities by our patrol and investigative staff have increased, not necessarily that crime is impacting our citizens more. I consider that a win in a year that has perplexed us like 2021 has on nearly every front.” says Sheriff Tony Thompson. “We also saw jail bookings, civil processes and nearly every other demand on our services increase over the past year. But, we also saw crimes against our citizens decrease, largely because of active patrolling activities.” As the year progressed, poor winter weather and driving conditions contributed to an uptick in accidents and injuries on the roadways in the county and an overall increase in calls for service over 2020.
