On July 20th, 2024, deputies and emergency first responders were dispatched to the 6000 block of North Pilot Grove Road at approximately 2:23 p.m. for an automated crash detection from a cellular phone. Upon arriving at the scene, a 17 year old male driver was located outside of a 2005 Toyota Corolla resulting from a rollover accident. The driver was the sole occupant and no other vehicles were involved. The male driver was transported to Allen Hospital in Waterloo and then immediately transferred to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for assessment of serious injuries. There is no further information on the driver's status at this time and the accident is under investigation by the Sheriff's Office.
