Sheriff’s Office to Participate in No-Shave November/December as Fundraiser
Beginning November 1st, and running through the end of the month of December, deputies and sheriff’s office employees will be sporting a new look to support a local worthy cause. In observance of the No-Shave November movement seen across the nation, the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office will allow employees to “violate” policy and go neatly trimmed, but unshaven for these two months to raise money for the Black Hawk County Veteran Affairs Office.
“Every November, our office looks forward to going unshaven, wearing blue jeans and doing other somewhat unorthodox things around the office that allows us to raise money for worthy causes in the community. This year, our staff has chosen to support an organization that goes above and beyond for our area veterans and that is the Black Hawk County Veteran Affairs” says Sheriff Tony Thompson. “We are so proud of Director Yolando Loveless and the staff at Veteran Affairs. If our two months of going unshaven can give a veteran the means to purchase their prescription medication, some relief from their monthly bills, or simply a ride to cancer treatment, then we have all done some small part.”
We all owe so much to our veteran community, as an office, we are honored to highlight and spotlight our special partnership with Black Hawk County Veteran Affairs. To find out more about all their efforts and programs go to: https://www.blackhawkcounty.iowa.gov/347/VeteransAffairs.
